Digging into the MAWTA

From a one-day trial to a thriving tradition!

Our Story

Founded in 2004, the Mid-America Working Terrier Association (MAWTA) brings together terrier lovers from Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and beyond. In that same year, we hosted our first sanctioned trial. What began as a one-day event has grown into a full weekend celebration featuring two complete sanctioned trials.

Each year on the fourth weekend in June, we proudly host the Mid-America Working Terrier Trials. It’s a can’t-miss event for anyone passionate about these spirited little dogs. Our trial is sanctioned by the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America (JRTCA), and we are honored to be an official affiliate of the JRTCA.

In 2023, MAWTA became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, further strengthening our mission to promote the working abilities of terriers and bring joy to the people who love them.

Whether you’re 5 or 95, you’ll find excitement, laughter, and a warm community at our events. Come see how much heart and energy a terrier can bring to your world. 🐾
